PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit to share an error correction encoding system, etc., and to achieve a record reproducing device which can cope with plural kinds of compression methods by a single device by employing semiconductor memory for a recording medium and recording data converted into a unified format in accordance with non-compression method. SOLUTION: This record reproducing device is provided with a format converter 2, a compander 4, a buffer memory 6, an error detection correction circuit 7, and a semiconductor memory 8, etc. The format converter 2 corresponds to plural kinds of signal formats and extracts a main signal from input signals and converts it into a specific signal format. A data compression means inputs the input signal after its format is converted by the format converter 2, and compresses and encodes the signal by either of the plural compression systems for outputting. The semiconductor memory 8 records the compression-encoded signal by a data compression means in a unified format regardless of the difference between the compression methods. |
