A polyoxyalkylene siloxane of the general formula wherein R is a C 1-6 monovalent hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon radical free of aliphatic unsaturation, R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-12 divalent hydrocarbon radical, R<SP>11</SP> is a C 2-4 divalent hydrocarbon radical free of aliphatic unsaturation, R<SP>111</SP> is a C 2-6 divalent or trivalent hydrocarbon radical, A is a hydrogen atom, an alkali or alkaline earth metal atom, or an ammonium or substituted ammonium radical, x is 0-100, y is 1-100, z is 1-50, arid w is 1 or 2, may be prepared by reaction of the corresponding hydroxy compound with the cyclic anhydride, followed by neutralization with the appropriate base if required. In examples there are prepared compounds of the formulµ The first three of these are neutralized with NaOMe, Et 3 N and PhNH 2 respectively.
