PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an antistatic acrylic synthetic fiber excellent in durability by forming a film of a specific copolymer on the surface of an acrylic synthetic fiber. SOLUTION: This antistatic acrylic synthetic fiber is produced by copolymerizing monomers consisting essentially of 15-35wt.% acrylonitrile, 50-80wt.% compound represented by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or methyl; (n) is 15-100; R3 is H or a 1-12C alkyl or an aryl], e.g. methoxypolyethylene glycol methacrylate and 5-20wt.% compound represented by formula II [R4 is H or a 1-3C alkyl; (m) is 1-5], e.g. glycidyl methacrylate in an aqueous medium containing an <=8C lower alcohol such as methanol, preparing an aqueous solution of a copolymer having >=50,000 average molecular weight, immersing an acrylic synthetic fiber in the above aqueous solution of the copolymer, squeezing the solution, then heat-treating the resultant acrylic synthetic fiber, opening rings of epoxy groups in the copolymer and forming a film of a three- dimensional structure on the fiber surface. |
