PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light weight ceramic sound absorber with excellent heat and impact resistance, high sound absorbing performance, and gas jet resistance of a jet engine. SOLUTION: This device is constituted of a foamed ceramic 11 being a porous body whose porosity is 80-92% and a dense layer 12 including ceramic fibers provided on the surface of the foaming ceramics. The dense layer is provided with thickness less than 1000μm, average 10-50μm pores, and about 4-60cgsRals/ cm flow resistance. This sound absorber 10 is manufactured by mixing aqueous solution including ceramics powder particles, diffusing agent, organic binder, and forming agent for forming a foaming slurry, arranging ceramics fibers at the position of the dense layer in the mold, pouring the slurry into the mold, controlling the increase of the pore diameter due to the set of the mutual pores, and operating dehydration, drying, demolding, degreasing, and burning.
