PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stable torque response type differential restricting force and initial torque. SOLUTION: The differential device is provided with a differential case 3 rotationally driven by means of an engine, output side helical side gears 15, 17, at least one pair of helical pinion gears 51, 53 connecting the gears 15, 17, housing holes 47, 49 housing the respective gears 51, 53 freely oscillationally and rotationally, and an initial torque applying means 35 arranged between the gears 15, 17. The initial torque applying means 35 is constructed of a washer 37, which is engaged with the side gear 17 freely movably, and a spring member 39 which is arranged on the side gear 17 and presses the washer 37 to the side gear 15 so as to provide initial torque on the basis of frictional resistance.
