PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the silver halide photographic sensitive material having high sensitivity and low fog and high gamma and high converting power and superior photographic characteristics even in the case of ultrahigh speed and low-replenishing processing by using flat silver halide grains containing typical cations except silver in the insides of the grains and having a specified aspect ratio. SOLUTION: The flat silver halide grains in the silver halide emulsion contain the typical cations, preferably, such as the ones of group I-V of the periodic table in the insides of the grains and occupy >=50% of the projection areas of the total silver halide grains and having principal faces (100) and an aspect ratio of >=2, preferably, 2-20, especially, 2-15. The cations are contained in an amount of 1×10<-9> -1×10<-1> per 1mol of silver halide, different in accordance with chemical ripening conditions and the like.
