PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring a sheet-like discharge member into uniform contact with a photoreceptor in its axial direction, with a compact constitution by holding a discharge sheet with an electrifier for electrifying the photoreceptor, after discharge. SOLUTION: In the electrifier 12 and a discharge device 14, a fixed voltage is applied to a needle electrode 24, a grid electrode 28 and the discharge sheet 38 from a power source, during the rotation of the photoreceptor 10. Thus, the surface of the photoreceptor 10 rotated in the direction of an arrow 60 comes into contact with the discharge sheet 38, to remove an electric charge remaining after a transfer is performed. Then, the surface of the photoreceptor 10 is electrified by the discharge of the needle electrode 24. Further, the discharge of the needle electrode 24 is adjusted by the grid electrode 28. Thus, the potential by electrification of the photoreceptor 10 is set to obtain a target voltage. Moreover, the discharge sheet 38 is held by the electrifier 12 whose rigidity is high, with a holding member, so that the contact of the discharge sheet 38 with the photoreceptor 10 is constant in the axial direction of the photoreceptor 10 and it is uniformly destaticized in all areas. |
