A radio-active power source comprises a beta particle emitter, promethium 147, supported on the plates 40, which renders the supporting rod 18 electrically positive relative to the case 10. The rod is insulated from the case by the insulator 16 and evacuation of the case is effected through tube 13. Gettering material 46 is heated during evacuation. The isotope plates 40 and the spacers 42 are maintained in mechanical and electrical contact by the spring 44. A peak open-circuit voltage of 13À5 K.V. is generated.</p> |
