PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method by which a liq. crystal panel structure excellent in earthquake resistance and impact resistance is formed, and orientation defects of liq. crystal molecules and tree-shaped orientation defects, which are derived by the permeation process of the liq. crystal inside the panel structure and the volumetric contraction of the liq. crystal, are completely removed. SOLUTION: Plural straight-lined partition members 8 are formed on either one of substrates 2, 3, oriented films 7, 9 are formed on the substrates 2, 3, the oriented films 7, 9 are subjected to rubbing treatment, the substrates 2, 3 are superimposed each other so that the partition members 8 are extended approximately in parallel with the rubbing direction, and the substrates 2, 3 are bonded together by heating the partition members 8 to form plural rectilinear spaces R in a hermetically sealed state. Preferably ferroelectric liq. crystal or antiferroelecric liq. crystal is encapsulated in these straight spaces R. Respective partition members 8 are bonded to opposit substrates to form the hermetically sealed straight spaces R. |
