摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reinforce a concrete bridge pier requiring no rustproof coating by installing porous steel plates around an existing concrete bridge pier or support, installing a form around them, placing concrete between the form and the bridge pier or support, and removing the form after concrete is hardened. SOLUTION: Porous steel plates 2 are installed at prescribed distances around an existing bridge pier 1, and a form 3 is installed at prescribed distances around them. Numerous slightly large holes are formed at proper intervals on the whole surfaces of the porous steel plates 2. Concrete 5 is placed between the bridge pier 1 and form 3 thus arranged, and the form 3 is removed after concrete 5 is hardened. The placed concrete 5 is connected to the porous steel plates 2 through numerous holes formed on the porous steel plates 2, and they practically behave as an integral structure. When a crack or peeling occurs on the concrete surface of the bridge pier 1, its effect is transferred to the inner/outer concrete 5, and the changed state can be known from the external appearance. The bridge pier 1 requiring no rustproof coating is reinforced.
