PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder housing device constituted so that a time point when powder will be consumed as effectively as possible and somewhat forbearance is left until the powder is finally consumed can be precisely detected by utilizing transmitted light. SOLUTION: In order to secure an optical path to a light receiving part 31 from a light emitting part 30 through the inside of a toner housing container 28, a recessed part 29a opposed to the light emitting part and provided with a transparent part 36a and a reflection part 37a and a recessed part 29b opposed to the light receiving part and provided with a transparent part 36b and a reflection part 37b are formed at the bottom surface of the container 28. Besides, the bottom surface of the container 28 positioned under the optical path in the container 28 is set in parallel with the optical path and inclined with respect to a horizontal. |
