The invention concerns a method for reducing a carbonyl-containing compound. More precisely it concerns a method for reducing a aldehyde and/or a ketone. The reduction method which consists in reacting a carbonyl-containing compound with an alcohol in the presence of a zeolite catalyst is characterised in that it consists in: mixing in any manner the carbonyl-containing compound with alcohol; passing said mixture on a catalytic bed comprising at least a zeolite; in subjecting the reaction mixture derived from the catalytic bed to recirculation on the catalytic bed as many times as required for obtaining the desired conversion rate of the substrate.
