<p>In the explosion welding process the finishing metal is placed above the base plate metal and the explosive charge, complete with the initiating device, is located above the finishing metal, the explosive charge and the initiator can be provided in plate form or in the pulverulent or pasty form. the explosive charge is fired by an instantaneous detonating fuse arranged tangentially to one of the sides of the explosive charge, the detonation front is propagated in the latter along a continuous line which is inclined at an angle to the detonating fuse. Linear and rectilinear propagation fronts can be obtained without the use of long lengths of fuse as hitherto.</p> |
