Used partic. for the purification of Hg. Apparatus consists of a container fitted with a discharge tube located in the action zone of a reversible electromagnetic inductor so that the mechanical force set up by interaction of the magnetic field from the inductor with currents induced in the liquid is enough to evacuate the liquid from the container. The discharge tube may be situated inside or outside the container and the container may be also fitted with tubing to recirculate the liquid. Mixing of the reactant with the liquid when it is evacuated is prevented.
