The transmission system consists of a driving shaft with a number (N) of sprockets (1, 2, 3) of different sizes and a driven shaft with a number (n) of sprockets (1', 2', 3', 4', 5', 6') of different sizes. The two sets of sprockets are linked by a chain which can be moved from one sprocket to another is a very precise sequence to produce gear ratios in a given order, either increasing or decreasing, and a total number of ratios equivalent to N + n - 1. The gear changing mechanism comprises a single levers interacting via a toothed rocker with two drums, each with a cable connected to a chain shifting fork. The operation of the lever allows the chain to be moved between only two or three neighbouring driven sprockets before it is shifted to the next driving sprocket.
