<p>A female condom (10) has a pouch (12) that has a pre-deployment position on the outer surface of a shield portion (18) wherein the pouch (12) includes a telescoped portion (30) forming an exteriorly accessible pocket (38) for receiving a retention sponge (28). A V shaped spring can be provided to shape an end extension to form the open end of the condom (10). The retention sponge (28) can be sealed within the exteriorly accessible pocket by a removable cover that seals the sponge within the exteriorly accessible pocket while in its pre-deployment position. The locking and sealing member is removable from the telescoped pouch portion for deployment.</p> |
