<p>The bars are fixed by interposing between the bar and the base of the dovetail slot a strip of spongy material impregnated wit synthetic resin which is then hardened by polymerisation. The spongy material is preferably a strip of glass mat impregnated with a hardenable resin either during or before the assembly of the rotor. The process grips the bars tightly and the strip after hardening is sufficiently rigid in compression to resist the centripetal force.</p> |
