The connecting arrangement consists of two rigidly interconnected plastics retaining plates (10), which rest on the belt webbing layers parallel to the belt webbing layers, and have side projections (16) protruding beyond the two sides of the belt run. The inner faces of the plates lying upon the belt layers are each provided with an interlocking profile (17,18). The retaining plates are provided with pins (19), which are fastened to the plates. The pins pass through the belt layers and fit in holes (20) in the raised sections of the interlocking profiles of the opposite retaining plates to connect the plates.
