A manufacturing process comprised of two stages, the first consisting in placing an untreated strip of wood (10), less than or equal to 1/4" thick, between a series of rollers (3) set together in pairs. The wood is cold compressed in the direction of the fibers, which reduces the thickness of the strip by approximately 50 %. The compressed strip (1) is then glued to one side of a piece of wood (12) to obtain the desired composite. The bonded strip renders the corresponding surface of the composite extra-resistant to shocks. Composites obtained in this way can be used notably in the construction of stairs or flooring.
