<p>9beta-11beta-oxido-16-methylene-4-pregnene-17alpha-ol-3,20 dione is microbiologically dehydrogenated in the 1(2)-position then treated with hydrogen fluoride. Further treatment is with an alkali solution of iodine and this is followed by alkali acetate. The 9alpha-fluoro-16-methylene-prednisolone-21-acetate having an 11-OH group is converted to an 11-keto by oxidation. The 9alpha-fluoro-16-methylene prednisoles, -prednison, are active pharmaceutical material particularly for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.</p> |
