The turbine wheel (10) comprises a central hub (16), which can be attached to a shaft (12) of a motor (14), a rim (18), which is provided with a series of blades (20), and a number of arms (26), which connect the hub and the rim. The blades draw air axially (28) towards the rim and direct it radially (30) outwards. The arms define a concave shell-shaped envelope, so that the arms join the hub at the centre of the shell and the blades at the rim of the shell. At least some of the arms have reinforcement ribs (32) in the area near the hub connection. The reinforcement ribs extend in an axial plane in the direction of the shell cavity.
