1282426 Measuring diffusion coefficients of liquids through polymer membranes CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 21 Nov 1969 [4 Dec 1968] 57126/69 Heading B1X [Also in Division G2] Diffusion and distribution coefficients of liquids through polymer membranes are measured using a cell divided into two parts 2, 2' by a polymer membrane 1, the first part being connected into a closed circuit comprising a pump 4 and a container 6 of tested liquid and the second part being connected into another closed circuit comprising a pump 4' and a detector 7, the pumps being located directly on the cell body. The pumps are diaphragm pumps with polytetrafluoroethylene membranes 3, 3' driven by vibrators with adjustable stroke. The total volume of the first closed circuit exceeds by less than one-tenth the volume of container 6. The sensing element of detector 7 is located outside the cell. The polymer membrane 1 is a 1mm thick glycolmethacrylate gel cross-linked with 0.3% ethyl glycol bis-methacrylate. The test liquid may be ethanol and n-butanol and may be pumped at 1 to 60ml/min. |
