The apparatus is as described in Specification No. 1,102,095 and is modified in that the body 4 that is arranged to rotate with a peripheral speed sufficiently high to apply tension to the filament(s) 2 and to assembly the filament(s) around its surface in the form of a sleeve possesses a discontinuous or irregular surface structure. The body preferably possesses an overall taper from one end to the other, which taper may vary between the ends of the body. The body is preferably essentially conical when viewed at right angles to its axis, but may be hemispherical, parabolic, hyperbolic or logarithmic. The surface may have an essentially echelon structure or be provided with rifts, indentations, nodular projections or teeth. |
