PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode excellent in electron emission characteristics and resistance against ion sputtering by forming a conductor or semiconductor layer containing a specific elements as a main component on the surface of a specific porcelain composition. CONSTITUTION:With respect to porcelain composition including a first composition containing 0.5 to 1.5mol of one or two or more sorts among Ba, Sr and Ca in terms of BaO, SrO and CaO respectively, a second composition containing 0.3 to 0.7mol of one or two sorts among Zr and Ti in terms of ZrO2 and TiO2 respectively and a third composition containing 0.3 to 0.7mol of R in terms of its oxide (where R refers to one or two or more sorts of element optionally selected from V, Nb, Ta, Sc, Y, La, Dy, Ho, Hf, Cr, Mo and W), a conductor or semiconductor layer containing R as a main component is formed on a surface. This realizes an electrode excellent in electron emission characteristics and resistance against ion sputtering. |
