METHOD FOR ORGANISING MASS EXCHANGES AND DEVICE FOR REALISING THE SAME

The method and device of the present invention may be used for implementing mass-exchange processes in liquid-liquid systems. The method of this invention essentially comprises feeding a non-wetting liquid flow between two hydrophobic membranes and further passing said liquid flow through the above-mentioned membranes and on the surface of a polymeric material. This polymeric material comprises a system of capillaries which are only open at the surface and is located between said membranes. The device for performing mass exchanges between two liquids that do not mix together includes a mass-exchange chamber in the form of two membranes separated by a polymeric material that cannot be wetted by a phase which is incapable of wetting said membranes. This polymeric material comprises a system of capillaries which are only open at the surface and exhibit a minimal variation of the specific inter-phase contact surface.
