Anti-depressant dibenzo-cyclopropapentalenes. Cpds. of general formula: (where R1 and R2 are H, methyl or ethyl, and A is alkylene contg. not >3C atoms) and their salts with mineral or organic acids. Also new are cpds where in at least one of A, R1, and R2 methylene gp. joined to N is replaced by carbonyl. They may be prepd. by reacting the corresp. cpd. where -NR1R2 is replaced by -CHO and A is methylene, ethylene or a direct bond, with an amine HNR1R2, or by reducing a corresp. cpd. contg. carbonyl attached to N to give a methylene gp. The cpds. have CNS stimulant action, oppose narcotic effects of reserpine and tetrapenazine and are potentiator for noradrenaline and amphetamines. |
