The thermostat (4) is connected into both natural gas and cooling water circuits. The natural gas passes through an upper compartment (2) which preferably contains wax in an inner chamber (25). The hot motor cooling water is channeled through a lower compartment (20). A valve (24), which controls the flow of the hot cooling water directly, has a stem (23) that enters the inner chamber and is actuated by the melting or solidifying of the wax.
