Method and apparatus for detecting glue on box blanks

A method and apparatus for detecting the presence or absence of white glue on a white background of a box blank being processed on a box blank folding machine using a laser scanner. The laser scanner directs a continuous beam of light at approximately a 20 degree angle of incidence from the horizontal to a white glue bead, and reflection of the light beam from the glue bead is detected by a receiver. The receiver generates a signal which is processed by a pulse processor. If no glue is present on the white surface, then there is no reflected light detected. The same method and apparatus is also used to detect embossing on box blanks.
