Coating material (I) for metal containers, contains (A) 20-70 wt% binder consisting of (Aa) 10-80 pts. wt. epoxy resin with a number-average mol. wt. (Mn) of 300-10,000, (Ab) 1-30 pts. wt. low-mol. wt. di- and/or poly-carboxylic acid containing alkylene groups with at least two carbon atoms between the carboxyl groups and (Ac) 5-50 pts. wt. organic solvent, (B) 1-20 wt% phenolic resin, (C) 0-10 wt% amino resin, (D) 0-10 wt% thermoplastic resin, (E) 0-30 wt% pigments and/or fillers, (F) 0-10 wt% additives etc. and (G) 5-50 wt% organic solvent. Also claimed is a process for coating metal containers, in which (I) is applied to the metal and hardened by stoving. |
