PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a carbide of chromium and (or) vanadium having a large N2 content and not sensitive to oxygen. SOLUTION: This method for producing a carbide particles comprises a step for heating a precursor compound containing a metal atom selected from a group of vanadium, chromium and a mixture thereof in an inert atmosphere containing nitrogen to a reaction temperature, and a step for carbonizing the precursor material by replacing the inert atmosphere containing the nitrogen with a gas for carbonization and reacting the precursor material for a time effective to form the metal carbide from the precursor material to carbonize the precursor material. |
