PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce metal hydroxide particles excellent in chargeability and particle distribution by removing only a medium liquid from a continuously formed reaction slurry to constantly maintain the volume of the reaction system. SOLUTION: This method for producing metal hydroxide particles comprises continuously charging the aqueous solution of a metal salt such as a Ni salt, ammonia water and an alkali metal hydroxide aqueous solution in a prescribed charging ratio into a reaction tank having a jacket, maintaining the charged mixture at a prescribed temperature of 20-80 deg.C, continuously charging a part of the formed slurry in the reaction system into a decanter type centrifugal machine, when the volume of the reaction system reaches a prescribed volume, removing only the medium liquid of the slurry outside the system to always substantially constantly maintain the volume of the reaction system, and subsequently returning the left slurry concentrated by the use of the centrifugal machine to the reaction system to enhance the concentration of the slurry in the reaction system. Thus, the nickel hydroxide particles having an average particle diameter of 3-50μm and a tap density of 1.9-2.2g/ml are efficiently formed in a short time.
