PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deformation of cells of a honeycomb and deterioration of its ventilation property during the use by keeping both ends of the metal honeycomb close to a casing made of a metal in a non contact manner without having a heat resistant may between the end parts of the honeycomb and the casing and without requiring a holding member between them. SOLUTION: A metal honeycomb 2 is installed in the inside of a casing 1 made of a metal and a heat resistant may 3 is sandwiched between the casing 1 made of a metal and the metal honeycomb 2. In both end parts of the metal honeycomb 2, the heat resistant may 3 is not put between the casing 1 made of a metal and the metal honeycomb 2 and the casing 1 made of a metal and the metal honeycomb 2 are kept close to each other in a non-contact manner. That is, gaps are formed between the casing 1 made of a metal and the metal honeycomb 2 in the exhaust gas flowing-in side and flowing-out side. Consequently, the metal honeycomb is provided with a structure in which its cells are not deformed during the use and air-tightness is kept without deteriorating the ventilation property. |
