PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce jaggedness by performing a smoothing treatment without increasing the resolution in both horizontal scanning direction and the vertical scanning direction by using a colored ink at smoothing areas for objective picture elements to be smoothed without color, at the time of ink jet recording. SOLUTION: A main controller 112 is constituted of a CPU, etc., and image data which is transmitted from a host computer 111, is stored in a frame memory 113. Also, the main controller 112 stores the gradation data for each picture element stored in the frame memory 113 in a driving data RAM 115 through a smoothing part 131 by a specified timing. In concrete, a smoothing treatment is performed for each picture element which is an objective to be smoothed by a pattern matching using brightness information, and based on the brightness of each picture element which is smooth-treated, the recording data for each picture element is converted into an adjusted driving data. |
