PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain pellets of a liquid crystal resin containing a liquid crystal polymer, reduced in a dispersion of metering in feeding into a molding machine and showing excellent feedability by specifying the relationship between the average weight of pellets and the standard deviation of their weights. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal polymer used is exemplified by a liquid crystal polyester, a liquid crystal polyester-amide or a liquid crystal polyester carbonate and is desirably a liquid crystal polymer containing structural units comprising p-hydroxybenzoic acid, a liquid crystal polymer containing ethylenedioxy units, and a polyester comprising structural units derived from e.g. p- hydroxybenzoic acid. The pellets should satisfy the relationship:σ/W<=0.2, desirably <=0.14 [wherein W(mg) is the average weight of the pellets, andσ(mg) is their standard deviation]. W is desirably 10-50mg. Although not particularly limited, the method for pelletizing is exemplified by one comprising cutting a string of a liquid crystal resin with a cutter provided with a moving and fixed edges with a small clearance therebetween. |
