<p>The tube-holders are connected at their bases. Each tube has an identification clip in the form og a side-handle. Each support has a slot wide enough to accommodate the handle, so that it is visible in the space between successive supports. Each handle has several nothces. The presence or absence of a notch allows an optical detection system to give a signal representing a binary word which identifies the tube. The tube-carriers have transverse grooves in their bases which run on rails to guide the carrier when it is moved transversely, and which act as notches in which teeth can engage to move the carriers longitudinally. Used for analysing liqs., partic. biological liqs. e.g. blood or urine when a number of treatments have to be carried out. The appts. avoids the disadvantage of having to change the tubes in which the samples flow, for each different analysis, and to make different connections between the treatment units. The risk of error and of breakage and loss of appts. is considerably less than with existing appts.</p> |
