The rope locking and lowering clamp allows the climber to move in either direction along a rope or remain stationary on it, without having to use any other accessories. The device locks the harness to the rope when climbing or when stopped, by a spring-biased shoe (2) pivoted on a pin (4) to jam the rope in the hooked edge (1) of the plate. Lowering involves a set of studs (10, 11) over which the rope slides, and braking pulleys (12), all mounted in fixed positions. The rope can be secured in the clamp when descending by a movable arm (13), which can be locked or released independently of the tension applied to the clamp by the user. To release the rope, the shoe (2) is retracted and the hook (5) is latched over a clip (9). There are two holes for attachment to the harness rope.
|
