VITAL IMPLANT MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vital implant material which has high mechanical strength, bonds to bones within a short period and is stable in a living body over a long period and to provide a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: This vital implant material is constituted by forming a film having a titania phase and alkaline titanate gel phase on the surface of a base body consisting of a titanium-based metal and incorporating calcium ions into this film. After the base body consisting of the titanium-base metal is immersed into an alkaline soln., the base material is recommended to be immersed into a soln. contg. the Ca ions or in a fused Ca seat or to be ion implanted with the Ca ions.
