摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a transparent thermal recording material excellent in head matching by an arrangement wherein a specified reliability section in a depth- number of cuts distribution chart on the surface of a protective layer has a width of specified value or less and the number of cuts in the distribution chart has a specified maximum value. SOLUTION: The degree of Haze regarded to function as a transparent thermal recording material is set at 40% or below and a surface shape excellent in head matching is obtained by roughening the surface finely so that the width of 95% reliability section in the depth-number of cuts distribution chart on the surface of a protective layer will be 0.5&mu;m or less and the maximum number of cuts in the distribution chart will be 100-500/1000&mu;m<2> . More preferably, the width of 95% reliability section in the depth-number of cuts distribution chart is in the range of 0.2-0.35&mu;m and the maximum number of cuts in the distribution chart is 200-400/1000&mu;m<2> . A filter is employed as a most convenient means for forming irregularities on the surface of the protective layer.
