A gas purging plug (1) has a body whose base is closed gas-tightly by a metal bottom (5) which delimits a gas distribution chamber (6) and has a connection (7) for gas supply and openings (9) for at least one electric temperature sensor (12) extending through the gas distribution chamber (6) into the plug body to detect its temperature and determine wear. Cup-shaped metal sleeve (10) is open in the direction of the outside of the metal bottom (5) to receive the sensor (12) and engages in a depression (8) in the bottom face of the body portion.
