1,235,257. Bar-stock feeding; feed collets. K. H. SVENSSON. 31 Oct., 1969 [31 Oct., 1968], No. 53627/69. Headings B3B and B3T. A reciprocating bar-stock feed collet 1, e.g. for an automatic lathe, includes a single-piece sleeve 2 which is slotted to allow resilient radial compression of the sleeve to grip bar stock. The sleeve 2 is retained in the collet 1 by a shoulder 5 and a flange 6, and a screw 9 and slot engagement prevent relative rotation. In alternative arrangements the flange 6 may be omitted and axial movement prevented by either a circlip (Fig. 4, not shown), or a further pin or screw 9 (Fig. 3, not shown) which engages in a slot in the collet 1. A sleeve may be provided for gripping hexagonal bar (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown). A set of different size sleeves may be provided for a particular collet 1. The sleeve 2 is made of phosphor bronze. |
