PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a propylene-ethylene block copolymer excellent in the balance between rigidity and shock resistance. SOLUTION: This method for producing a propylene-ethylene block copolymer is composed of (a) a process in which propylene is polymerized to produce a high crystal polypropylene and (b) a process in which propylene and ethylene are copolymerized, both of which are carried out in the presence of (A) a solid component essentially consisting of Mg, Ti, a halogen, a metal oxide and an electron donor compound, (B) an organo aluminum compound and (C) a catalyst forα-olefin polymerization consisting of an alkylalkoxysilane compound. The process (b) is carried out in the presence of (D) an aluminum compound in which the total of Pauling's electronegativities of atoms bound to the aluminum atom is >=8.
