Refrigerator unit refrigerates foodstuffs using compressed air. It has an isothermal casing (1), equipped with an air vent (2) and a technical compartment (3) containing a vortex tube (4) supplied with compressed air (5). The hot and cold exits (9, 8) are directed to the exterior and interior (6, 7) respectively, of the isothermal casing (1). Preferably the air inlet is valved (12). The cold air produced may be introduced at a number of points in the isothermal casing.
