A decorative light consists of a translucent container (12), e.g. of glass, open at the top (12A), and an electric bulb (16) fed by batteries set in a filling material. The filling material is preferably white in colour and can be made from candle wax, and the batteries can be rechargeable and connected to a holder (22) containing the bulb. The batteries can supply a power of 3.6 V, for example, at about 200 mA.
