The actuator has an electric motor (1) and the movement of the door is guided in a lower rail (2) fixed to the vehicle chassis. The carriage has a rotary roller (5) engaged meshing with the crown wheel and a release hook (6) articulated with respect to the carriage. The hook has a beak (7) which selectively engages onto the crown wheel to block rotation of the roller or is spaced from the crown wheel.
