The tank is made from a polymer e.g. by roto-moulding to give it twin walls (1,2) and a hollow base with a projecting rim (5) and reinforcing ribs. The tank has holes round its upper edge for filling its walls, base and collar with concrete (3) to provide the requisite strength for the tank to be buried partially or completely in the ground. According to its use the tank can be fitted with pumps, electrical equipment, ducts or ladders. It can also have partitions, agitators and oxygenators, and can be made cylindrical, cubic or other shape, and from plastics other than polyethylene.
