The present systems of anti=missile defence include anti=missiles, rapid=fire cannons, electronic countermeasures or bunkers and armour. The balloon (1) is spherical or of any required shape, and is inflated by a suitable gas or liquid. Explosive charges (2) are evenly distributed over its surface. When a missile strikes the surface of the balloon, it is destroyed by the explosion of its warhead or by the detonation of one or more of the explosive charges on the balloon's surface. The balloon may be specially shaped, or joined to other balloons, or have several layers, and is composed of the optimum materials for its application.
