An exhaust gas tester for combustion engines, comprises a cell through which the gas is pumped. The water vapour in the gas is pptd. in a condensate separator and then pumped away. If the water level in the separator exceeds a predetermined limit, the measurement gas flow line (9) to the measurement cell (11) is closed off to the condensate separator (2) and opened to fresh air via another line (13), until the water level has dropped below the limit. Use - The arrangement is used to test exhaust gas from combustion engines. Advantage - Water in the measurement system can be removed quickly and effectively.
