Flame-proof finish for polymers

New cpds. R(R2O)2 P-- 0-CR9R10-P(O)(OR11X) 2n O-CHR3 P(O)(OR1)2 and (R2O)(O)PR2- O-CR9R10-P(O)(OR11X) n-O-CHR8-P(O)(OR1)2 (where R1, R2=1-4C alkyl chloro- or bromo-alkyl; X=Br or Cl; R8=H or 1-3C alkyl; R9, R10=Me or Et or R9+R10 = cyclohexane; R11= CHR3CHR4 or CHR5CHR6CHR7; R3-R7=H or Me; n= 1-1000), effectively flame-proof textile fibres, e.g. polyamides, polyesters, extruded and pressed polymers e.g. PVC, polyurethanes, foams, packaging materials act. Advantages are (a) cpds. not washed out of textiles, (b) improved dimensional stability of polymers, (c) non-toxic, (d) odourless (e) light stable. Polymers are not discoloured.
