The kit comprises a covering profiled strip (12) containing a continuous opening with sawtooth edges, and a levelling strip (13) with feet (130,131) engaging in the opening at different heights. The feet on the levelling strip are of different heights (h1,h2) and have at their free ends locking lugs (130a,131a) protruding outwards. These are compressed together for insertion in the covering strip, generating a clamping force to hold them in place. They can together form a V-shape, their free ends being further apart than those by which they are joined to the levelling strip. They can also contain grooves near their free ends, spaced apart in the strip lengthwise direction.
