The invention relates to a device for continuous processing of surfaces of flatten metal bands by means of a rotating electric arc for cleaning, structuring and/or thermal treatment of surfaces. Said device is used inter alia in the production of composite wire. The band polarized as cathode (3 in Fig. 1a and 1b) is guided through a device consisting basically of a counter-electrode (1) polarized as an anode (+) and electromagnets and/or permanent magnets (2) placed in pairs symmetrically to the center between the counter-electrode and the band. The magnets are polarized in such a way that poles of the same sign face each other. The electric arc path, which is predetermined by the contour of the counter-electrode, can be configured substantially at will, the simplest form being circular. The desired processing effect can be controlled by targeted selection of parameters such as band velocity, electrode spacing, electrical strength, magnetic field strength, protective gas quantity and composition. |
